REYKJAVIK (ICELAND)
Reykjavik, on the coast of Iceland, is the country's capital and largest city. It's home to the National and Saga museums, tracing Iceland’s Viking history. The striking concrete Hallgrimskirkja church and rotating Perlan glass dome offer sweeping views of the sea and nearby hills. Along the seafront is a stainless steel sculpture that resembles a Viking long-ship is the ‘Sólfarið’ or ‘The Sun Voyager.’ The artist Jón Gunnar Arnason who created the striking landmark, stressed that it is a dream boat and an ode to the sun. It represents the promise of undiscovered territory and a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
