DORDOGNE & CARCASSONE (2017)

We took a coach trip in 2017 through France to the Dordogne and Carcassone. Carcassone is a uniquely preserved Medieval town. Located on the right bank of the Aude, it is still inhabited, has 52 towers and 2 concentric walls totalling 3km of ramparts. Access is through the Narbonnaise Gate and the Aude Gate. We also visited Rocamadour and Toulouse. Rocamadour is a small clifftop village in south-central France. It is known for the Cité Réligieuse complex of religious buildings, accessed via the Grand Escalier staircase. It includes the Chapelle Notre-Dame, with its Black Madonna statue
