TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK

We stayed at a lovely Evergreen eco-hotel on the main river and from there explored the park by small boats which travel up man-made canals dug to export timber in former times. The park boasts loads of wildlife, mainly birds, caimanm, lizards and spiders. The spiders are huge about the size of a child”s palm. We also saw some tiny bats rooting in a tree and in a boat shed. At the town of Tortugeuro, the weather was poor following a storm so the Atlantic was quite rough and the water muddy.
